Liu Yiqian (born 1963) is a Chinese businessman who built his personal fortune by investing in stock trading, real estate and pharmaceuticals. He is chairman of Sunline Group, a Shanghai-based investment company.
One of the biggest – if not the biggest – collector in China. In early 2014, Liu made waves by paying USD$36.3 million for a small Ming doucai chicken cup from the Chenghua period. It will be exhibited in his private (now public) “Long Museum” in Puxi, the historic center of Shanghai.
Other major purchases include Buddhist bronzes and thangkha’s, modern art including a Modigliani nude for USD$170.4 million.
